04/28/22 / Start of the construction of the sanitary facility in Battambang

Actual situation in April 2022

Currently 180 students and 4 teachers share a toilet. We would like to change this due to hygienic conditions. We have therefore decided to build a new sanitary facility.

Start of the plastering work. Note the Cambodian scaffolding.

Week 5/1

Installation work of water supply / sanitation. Unfortunately, the work had to be interrupted again and again due to heavy rain. Still, you're making good progress.

Good to see, the two separate rooms for boys and girls, as well as the sewage system behind the building. The end cap and the pump are still missing.

The building is slowly taking shape

Today with a little insight via video. Working is not easy at the moment. Despite the rain, work continues. There is always something to do.

Day 6 and 7

It's progressing....

Unfortunately the rainy season has started. The work has to be interrupted for short periods of time. Nevertheless, the progress is visible.

Tag 5

Concreting of the chamber system as well as setting and fixing of the supporting pillars. There are still temperatures of 35 degrees on the construction site.

The pillars are being bricked. Our architect and site manager controls every single section. The large picture below shows the later tank with a multi-chamber system for the waste water.

2 families have moved to the property. You will work on construction every day. They are poor migrant workers who move from construction site to construction site. They came with all their belongings and 5 kg of rice in their luggage. That's all they had. That's why we have now also provided them with rice.

More material was delivered today and the floor was further processed. This at temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius. The workers can only be admired. Nevertheless, 4 locals are happy about the task. After Corona once again a reliable source of income.

TAG 1 - happy day - 28.04.2022

Today the ground-breaking ceremony was carried out by Martin Heimberg, our second chairman of the Kambodscha-Kinderhilfe-Verein eV and Udo Szepanski, chairman of the Oase eV school support association

The ground is bone dry and very difficult to work on. The excavation is done by hand, since machines are not available or cannot be used.

Our projects

Kok Krosaing English School in Siem Reap

The school was founded by Roger Valkenbourgh and his wife Sun Sothy in 2012. At the moment, 160 needy children are cared for through school education. Education also includes an adequate, rich breakfast every day. Our association has been supporting the school since 2019 with donations and arranging sponsorships.

Cambodian Development School in Battambang

Piseth Chy founded the school in 2016.

Around 180 children go to school in Battambang. Parents have to pay monthly school fees for their children. Since not all parents are able to pay the school fees, our association helps with sponsorships and by paying teachers' salaries. In addition, the construction of a sanitary facility is planned for this year.
